The fireplace can be quiet, sculptural, graphic or traditional. The stone selection should reinforce that architectural role.
Bookmatched composition
When sequential slabs allow, mirrored movement can create a deliberate central axis around the firebox. Actual slab layout should be approved before fabrication.
Profiled mantel
Moulded or stepped profiles use shadow and depth rather than pattern alone. Stone character, edge geometry and room scale need to work together.
Floor-to-ceiling stone
Extending the material beyond the immediate surround turns the fireplace wall into a full architectural feature and makes slab allocation especially important.
